This workshop teaches fast, reliable dipping techniques used in production pottery. You’ll learn how to prepare glazes for consistent dipping, measure and adjust specific gravity, and control viscosity/flow for repeatable results. The workshop also covers efficient hot wax techniques and quick, effective ways to wipe and clean the foot, helping you speed up your glazing process without sacrificing quality. We’ll cover glazing tools, tongs and techques for both big and small works.

Techniques apply to both functional and scultputral works.

Each participant will take home a 100ml measuring cylinder to continue accurate testing and streamlined workflows.

This one-day, hands-on workshop led by Csilla Csongvay and Matt Blackwood @csongvayblackwood invites participants to explore design thinking through making. Beginning with structured and open-ended cardboard exercises, participants will investigate form, constraint and material efficiency before translating ideas into clay using slab-building techniques. The workshop emphasises process over outcome, encouraging experimentation, iteration and material awareness. Suitable for ceramicists, designers and anyone interested in form-making across disciplines.

WORKSHOP - Throwing Big Bowls Sat 28th Feb & Sun 1st Mar, 10am–3pm

Saturday 28th Feb & Sunday 1st March, 10am–3pm. This hands-on weekend workshop focuses on techniques for throwing, trimming and turning larger forms with confidence. You’ll learn strategies for centring more clay, managing weight and wall thickness, improving structure and balance, and refining large pieces at the leather-hard stage. Ideal for potters looking to scale up their work and gain more control over larger forms.

Most work can be taken home raw, or bisque fired for a small additional fee.
