This course is designed to introduce the absolute novice to the basics of firing an electric kiln and take away your trepidation. We will arm you with knowledge about what is happening to the clay and glaze in the firing cycle. There will be practical hands on demonstrations on how to pack a kiln.

All learning will be communal and carried out in a relaxed and enjoyable environment.

Basic changes to clay and glaze during firing.
How to pack and kiln for a glaze and bisque firng.
Looking after your kiln.
Suggested firng cycles
Cones and Recording Results
Equipment and Processes
Firing and Evaluating
Problem solving.
